"I Did It My Way (Canadian Value Investors’ 2024 Edition)"
And now, the year is done,
The markets soared, they had their fun,
While I, with steady hand,
Invested in the solid, the tried, the bland.
Regrets? I’ve had a few,
But speculation wasn’t one I knew,
I bought where value lay,
And did it my way.
Yes, there were trends, no doubt,
Bitcoin boomed, the hype was loud.
NFTs flashed, then they burned,
While cashless firms, no profits earned.
I stood firm, I stayed true,
And did it my way.
For what is a man, what has he got?
If not conviction, then he’s lost the plot.
To see the worth in canned supplies,
Distressed estates, where value lies,
The oil flowed, the profits stayed,
And I did it my way.
The crowd cheered loud for fleeting gains,
I watched as bubbles burst in vain.
They chased the dreams, I sought the real,
And built my wealth with hands of steel.
I faced it all, and through it all,
I did it my way.
So here’s to 2024,
To value plays, forever more.
While fads will fade, the truth will stay,
I did it my way.
